I have a confession. I love the chase. As a professional angler, and owner of 2 busy fishing guide services Traverse City Bass Guide Service and Manistee River Salmon Guide Service,
I have had the great fortune to fish with many different people, and in many different scenarios. For me, I absolutely love the opportunity to chase after fish on a daily basis.
As I often tell my customers, fish have fins, know how to swim, and didn’t send me the memo to tell me what their agenda was going to be for the day. Trying to figure out what the fish are doing every day, figuring out what their next move is going to be, what they want to eat from hour to hour can be challenging. And addicting. I love being able to put a pattern together, and it’s tremendously rewarding when all the pieces come together. I think that my fishing customers feed off of my enthusiasm for the chase, as we piece together our day. But then again, some days are tough on the water. Then, it’s more about the catch. Actually, it’s all about the catch.
