Father & sons

Mike Abbot, from Chicago, enjoying a huge smallmouth (4+ pounder) his son caught all by himself while out with Capt Ben on Grand Traverse Bay with Traverse City Bass Guide Service.  As evidenced from his huge smile, he’s a happy little guy!   Fishing with Traverse City Bass, out on Grand Traverse Bays, this was one of many bass caught that day. His brother’s big fish was no slouch either!   Way to go guys!!!

“We’re gonna need a bigger cooler!”

A few days after fishing with Traverse City Bass Guide Service out of Traverse City, Gabe Sopocy connected with Capt. Andy Odette, another Sport Fish Michigan associated Captain out of Frankfort for an evening of salmon and steelhead fishing.  They needed a bigger cooler for all of the salmon and this huge steelhead they caught!

All the way from California

This gentleman came all the way from California, to fish with Traverse City Bass for 4 full days. Glen is completely blind, and was still able to manage to fish very effectively and efficiently. There were lots of laughs, lots of fun, and just as importantly, lots of fish. Captain Ben Wolfe was able to get Glen out on both West and East Grand Traverse Bays for each day of fishing.

Sport Fish Michigan

I recently launched a new web site, SportFishMichigan.com, and I’m ecstatic to report that the results are just what I was hoping that they would be. Where print ad was once king in attracting customers, the internet now is the new preferred medium for many advertisers. Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day

I was reflecting the other day on how lucky I am to have such a supportive wife and family. Tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day, and I’d like to send out a special Valentine’s Day message to my best friend and wife: Thanks for being you, allowing me to be me.

Without her daily support, it would be nearly impossible for me to operate one, let alone two busy fishing guide businesses, Traverse City Bass and Manistee River Salmon. Getting up before the crack of dawn on a daily basis, often staying up late into the night pouring custom plastics, tying spawn sacks, curing salmon spawn or pouring jigheads and drop shot weights normally would come as a heavy price to pay in terms of a marriage.

Thankfully, my wife is understanding. Not only of my fishing obsession, but my break-neck guide schedule. And the fact that I constantly smell fishy! So here’s to my fantastic wife and best friend: Thank you for putting up with me and for everything that you do. Happy Valentine’s Day!
